Recovery Coach
Elane is one of the recovery coaches/ peer supports here at the RHS Addiction Trauma Recovery/SUDs department.
She was born and raised here in the Idaho Falls area, and became a recovery coach for many reasons; one because she needed to put her own recovery first, another to give back to our community, and another so that she wouldn't forget where she came from. There is a very old saying that goes something like: "I took a drug, then the drug took the drug, then the drug took me."
The idea of helping others as a recovery coach/ peer support is to be able to meet someone where they are, show them how to find resources in the recovery community, and be an example that recovery is possible no matter what.
The plan is that the people Elane gets to work with find long-term recovery that works for them and get connected. The hope is that when they no longer need recovery coaching/ peer support services, the people she has been able to watch grow in our program, find hope and freedom in their lives.
